Populous, the Kansas City-based architecture firm responsible for Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, SoFi Stadium, and the new Everton ground, has finalized plans for what will become the largest football stadium on Earth.
The current record holder is Rungrado 1st of May Stadium in Pyongyang, North Korea, at 114,000 seats, though that venue has not hosted international football in decades. The Grand Stade Hassan II exceeds it by a thousand seats and does so with a design intended for FIFA-tier broadcast and hospitality standards.
Morocco will co-host the 2030 tournament alongside Spain and Portugal. The opening match and final are both scheduled for Benslimane. Construction timelines have not been published, but design completion in July 2026 suggests a four-year build window.
