NIGO Retrospective Opens at London's Design Museum

Nike releases a collaborative apparel capsule to coincide with the designer's first major UK museum exhibition.

The capsule translates 1990s Harajuku visual codes into Nike product, timed to the retrospective opening.

NIGO's retrospective exhibition opened at London's Design Museum on 10 July 2026. The show runs through autumn and surveys four decades of work across A Bathing Ape, Human Made, Billionaire Boys Club, and creative direction at Kenzo.

Nike released a collaborative apparel capsule to mark the opening. The "From Japan with Love" collection includes a coaches jacket, graphic t-shirts, and accessories. Pieces reference Ura-Harajuku visual language from the 1990s. Distribution will roll out in waves through summer.

The exhibition is NIGO's first major institutional retrospective outside Japan. The Design Museum has previously staged shows on Cartier, Azzedine Alaïa, and Ai Weiwei. NIGO joins that roster as the first streetwear-originating designer to receive a full retrospective at the institution.

The signal is institutional framing. Museum retrospectives typically arrive after a career has concluded its formative period. NIGO remains active as creative director at Kenzo and continues Human Made operations. The Design Museum show positions his 1990s Harajuku work as history while he is still producing new collections in Paris.

The retrospective runs through September 2026. The Nike capsule drops in waves through August.
