Matthieu Blazy will present his second Chanel collection in the Eternal City, six months before the press cycle catches the location's significance.

Chanel confirmed this week that its 2027 Métiers d'art collection will be presented in Rome on December 2, 2026. The show marks Matthieu Blazy's second major presentation for the house since his appointment, following his debut in Biarritz earlier this year. The Rome location references Gabrielle Chanel's first visit to Italy in the summer of 1920, a connection the house has not activated at this scale in the Métiers d'art series since the annual presentation began in 2002.

The timing matters. December 2 falls after the cruise circuit but before the spring couture calendar, a window that historically draws less press attention than the main fashion weeks. Blazy is using it to stage what amounts to a second debut, this time on terrain that signals distance from Paris rather than continuity with it. The conversation will catch up in the fall. The coordinates are already set.
